HRX 2023 PITCH SUBMISSION GUIDELINES BREAKTHROUGH INNOVATIONS IN CARDIOVASCULAR DIGITAL HEALTH HRX–INNOVATORS AT HEART The future of healthcare is virtual, informed by clinical needs, aided by sensors, powered by AI and driven by digital health innovators. To solve these complex future healthcare needs, there must be a deliberate effort to cultivate communities of experts to understand how to leverage the resources at hand and build consensus on how to chart the path ahead. HRX is a global health and technology conference explicitly designed to foster the ideal conditions for strategic brainstorming about the present and future of the new Electrophysiologic (EP) environment.We provide a platform for industry leaders to examine the latest digital health advancements and share respective challenges while envisioning future solutions.This includes creating space for thought leadership, formal and informal discourse, andopportunities to discuss and exchange ideas toidentify the best ways to collaborate,innovate further, and improve care. To achieve this, all parties in the EP ecosystemarerepresented. Physicians, technology developers, investors, industry, patients, training institutions, regulatory bodies, and more. ABOUT HRX PITCH COMPETITION The HRX Pitch Competition, poweredby the Cardiovascular Digital Health Journal, is an opportunity for early-stage innovators and start-ups to showcase their breakthrough digital health innovation that will transform cardiovascular care. In this high-stakes, 75-minute session, teams compete on the conference’s main stage for cash prizes from funders. Each team races a 10-minute clock to creatively pitch their digital health-relatedidea and gain exposure to venture capitalists, funders, and investors and has 5 minutes to answer questions from judges and attendees. A panel of judgesaward cash prizes. A superlative award is also granted based on attendee votes. AWARDS • 1st place: $30,000 • 2nd place: $15,000 • People’s Choice (audience selected): $10,000 IMPORTANT DATES(2023) April 10Submission Site Opens May 31at 11:59 p.m.ETSubmission Site Closes June 20-29Selected Teams Notified June29Selected Teams Announced July 10-September 10Prep/ Coachingfor Selected Teams September 23at 9:15 a.m.Pitch Competition ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for the Pitch Competition, a start-up company must be a registered, formative stage business entity that can enter into the Investment Agreement, such as a corporation or limited liability company (LLC), that meets the following 2 criteria: • Less than five years from the date of formal organization • Has its first product or service in testing or pilot production SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTSAND RULES Applications must be submitted electronically using the HRX submission portal. Each application must answer the following questions and include the following information. • Pitch Details • Proposed Pitch Name: • Proposed Presenters: (name, title, company, role in project) • Innovation Details • Describe the innovation: • What problem/ challenge does this innovation aim to solve?Why does it matter?(executive summary)HRX PITCH SUBMISSION GUIDELINES • What are the goals of this innovation? • What are the possible applications of thisinnovation?How will my practice be changed by it? • In what ways might this innovation advance digital healthand/ or impact the field of EP? • How does this innovation support HRX’s vision (the future of healthcare is virtual, informed by clinical needs,aided by sensors, powered by AI and driven by digital health innovator)? • What role does inter-/ cross-disciplinary collaboration play in this innovation? • Describe the phase of the innovation. What work has been done to date? What still needs to be done? Include dates, if possible • How much capital have you raised to date? • [UPLOAD] A 3-minute “Kickstarter” video (accepted formats include MOV and MP4 at a max of 500 GB) • Creative Pitch • In the spirit of innovation, creativity of presentation and storytelling will be encouraged! The creative pitch should enhance the expression of your innovation’s value proposition—not just creativity for creativity’s sake. Interview a stakeholder, tell a story, act out a scenario, build a model, or do a demonstration! Remember, audience members can vote to award an additional prize. All correspondence for the Pitch Competition will be directed to the Team Representative. The information should be reviewed to ensure that the correct e-mail address information is listed. Please note that the HRX submission platform used the Heart RhythmSociety’s single sign-on. If you have an account with HRS, please use the same credentials as those used for HRS’s website. If you do not have an account with HRS, you will need to create an account to be able to submit your application. HRX PITCH SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Submission Rules • The submission must be the original work of the Team. • Each Team member must agree to participate in the Pitch Competition. A Team should include a maximum of 5 members. • International applicants are welcome. • The Pitch competition will be held in a public forum. No confidential information should be included in the application or in the pitch itself. • There is no fee to submit an application. • If selected, Team members are required to register for HRX. Semifinalists will participate in the HRX Pitch Competition on September 23, 2023, where they will pitch their project to a panel of subject-matter expert judges. • Selected teams will participate in a virtual mentoring that will be held from July 10until September 10, 2023. • Participants are responsible for all their travel and presentation expenses related to their attendance at HRX andtheir participation in thePitch Competition. SELECTION PROCESS Pitch proposals are reviewed and selected for presentation by a committee ofexperts including HRS team members, HRX executive producers, and Editorial Board members of the Cardiovascular Digital Health Journal. The committeewill review submissionsbased on: • Ability to clearly articulate the problem statement and proof of concept evidence supporting the impact on the problem statement • Description of the unmet needand how the proposed solution addresses it • Description of the specific features of the product orservice • Ability to develop and execute the solution • Analysis of the current competitive environment and information on the ability to scale to the broad market ONSITE PRESENTATION STRUCTURE AND RULES Bring your innovation! Presenters are asked to follow a basic pitch structure but encouraged to make their presentationsentertaining and creativewith props, demonstrations, or showmanship. Cool swag, showboating, and audience cheeringclubs are encouraged. Each team will race a 10-minute clock to creatively pitch their digital health-related idea and have5 minutes to answer questions from the judge paneland attendees. Below is a proposed outline for presentation structure. • The Facts (2minutes) o What is it? o Who are you? o Executive summary/ elevator pitch • Creative Presentation (8minutes) o Why does your product matter? o What are you trying to solve? ▪ Provide supporting data for why this is a problem. ▪ Why should the audience care? How does this problem affect them? ▪ Share a story (real or fictional) that illustrates the problem. o What new thinking are bringing to the table? How is it innovative? ▪ Show data that supports whyand howthis innovation will work. ▪ Why you? What unique assets does the project team possess? (e.g., talent, infrastructure, location, intangibles) o Share a current/ potential positive outcome(s) ▪ Share patient impact metrics o Why is now the time? Why is solving this problem urgent? ▪ Broadly speaking, what tools do you need to realizethe goals of innovation? ▪ Define the need and how an investment of resources would be used. • Q&A (5m) QUESTIONS?
